My name is Briana Sandoval, I am a bilingual and multi-cultural practicing astrologer practicing over 15 years. I started learning about astrology many years ago as part of my developing spiritual path and never looked back.I offer intuitive, grounded astrological guidance. My work is informed by a deeply intentional spiritual practice, incorporating meditation, plant medicine, and embodied movement such as yoga and dance. I blend intuitive insight with evolutionary and traditional astrological frameworks, and I provide readings that are both practical and soul-centered. I primarily work with the whole sign house system, attuning to patterns and divinatory threads within the chart to support clarity, reflection, and meaningful personal growth.Academic background in art history with an interest in the humanities, classical studies, philosophy, film, cross cultural literature, and romance languages. Also interested in natural medicine, sustainability, and design. Why Whole Signs?
Like most people I started with Placidus, since it is pushed as the modern default. I used it until I myself got a natal chart reading from a traditional astrologer and started experimenting with whole signs.
Since then, I feel that whole sign houses is the most natural approach and is most inline with the philosophical basis of astrology. Transit readings are particularly concise using whole signs.
What Kind of Astrology Do You Practice?
My astrological approach combines both traditional hellenistic astrology and evolutionary astrology. There are elements to both that I think are very important to understand. Traditional astrology lends a very solid basis to understanding how astrology can manifest in real life, but it has it’s limitations.
However, even though I’ve named my practice over being Venusian, I am also quite Plutonian and can not relegate Pluto to the sidelines or diminish it’s evolutionary value. Traditional astrology does not include the outer planets, but I think they have earned their place in contemporary astrology.
I call myself an eclectic astrologer for drawing from various approaches and synthesizing them in a way that I think is relevant and beneficial.
What about free will?
This is a deeply philosophical question that has been asked throughout all of history. Everybody you ask will have a different answer and point of view. Nevertheless, the point of astrology or astrological consultation is not a condemnation, but more so a look at the conditions one is born into and will deal with throughout their life. The point is not to say nothing can be done, and live in resignation in futility.
The point is to help in develop self-awareness, your personal consciousness, and have more agency over the steps you take in life. I personally believe in a combination of fate, destiny, and free will, though we may never know where one ends and one begins. :)
